Below, is a slideshow of advice that I received from my students at my teaching placement this fall (2015). Students wrote to me to tell me what they believed were the "Top 10 Ways" to be a great teacher. If you want to be a great teacher, you have to listen to your students. Below are my "Top 10 Ways" to be a great teacher.
Top 10 Ways to Be a Great Teacher
1. Show all of your students that you care about them and their successes.
2. Listen to all of your students problems (no matter how big or small) and offer them guidance.
3. Try new activities and styles of teaching to keep students engaged and excited about learning.
4. Always think about how you would want a teacher to talk or behave toward you.
5. Apologize to students when you make a mistake. Let your students know that you are still learning too!
6. Hold students accountable for their actions and the outcomes of their work.
7. Show students that you are passionate about your own work and about learning.
8. Differentiate your lessons and your instructional materials. Not all students need the same things.
9. Have clear and measurable objectives for your lessons and express them to your students.
